Description

The Altria chain upgrade marks a major milestone for Injective, introducing permissionless EVM access and advancing the MultiVM architecture into a unified, high-performance execution environment. This release enables global-scale decentralized applications across both WASM and EVM, setting the foundation for the next era of composable on-chain development. This proposal outlines the core features and optimizations of the Altria upgrade that will propel Injective into a new phase of innovation and adoption.

Public EVM Launch Altria activates full public EVM mainnet access, allowing developers to deploy and interact with smart contracts directly on Injective. The Injective EVM combines real-time execution speeds with Ethereum compatibility, creating a frictionless environment for composable applications across both ecosystems.

Unified MultiVM Execution The upgrade extends Injective's MultiVM design into a single runtime where WASM and EVM environments coexist and interoperate seamlessly. Applications can now share liquidity, assets and states across virtual machines, enabling a unified development surface without external bridges.

Modernized EVM Economics Altria integrates the EIP-1559 DynamicFeeTx through the txfees module and upgrades Geth to v1.16.3, delivering predictable gas pricing, deterministic execution, and a low-latency developer experience consistent with the latest Ethereum standards.

Advanced Exchange Module Capabilities The exchange module layer gains advanced risk-management systems to reinforce market stability and capital efficiency:

 • Subaccount Offsetting: Enables automatic netting between subaccounts during volatile conditions to maintain systemic balance.
 • Open Notional Caps: Introduces dynamic position limits that safeguard against excessive exposure across high-volume markets.

Chain-Level Optimizations Altria introduces broad performance improvements that enhance throughput, consensus efficiency and SDK interoperability. These refinements streamline asset flows and optimize state management, ensuring sustained scalability across all modules.

State and Governance Migrations This upgrade executes targeted state migrations to enable txfees, cleans residual delegation dust, removes legacy administrative parameters and updates validator configurations. These adjustments align the network for unrestricted developer participation within the public EVM environment.

If passed, this proposal will commit the Injective blockchain to halt at a target block height of 141150000 (approximately 14:00 UTC / 10:00 ET on November 11th, 2025) and resume with the v1.17.0 version of the Injective Chain application binary.
